Academic Honor Society – Phi Theta Kappa

Beta Theta Omicron is the Skyline College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for two year colleges. Beta Theta Omicron is both an International Distinguished Chapter and a Regional Distinguished Chapter. Members of Phi Theta Kappa are eligible for the National Dean’s List, the All-USA and All-California Academic teams, and a wealth of scholarships to continue your community-college education and to transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

Membership is open to all Skyline College students who have completed 12 units at Skyline College with a GPA of 3.5 in degree-applicable courses. All members of Beta Theta Omicron are lifetime members of Phi Theta Kappa.

Business Honor Society – Kappa Beta Delta

Alpha Beta Chi is the Skyline College chapter of Kappa Beta Delta, the international Honor Society for Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) accredited two-year Business Programs. The purpose of Kappa Beta Delta is to encourage and recognize scholarship and accomplishment among students pursuing business degrees. To encourage and promote personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind.

Students are eligible for lifetime membership based on the following criteria:

  • Rank in the upper 20% of students pursuing business degrees at the time of invitation to membership.
  • Completed a minimum of 15 semester hours of credit, of which a minimum of six are in business subjects toward the degree program.
  • Acquire a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a 4.00 scale.

Members may participate in a variety of leadership, scholarship, fellowship, and service activities provided by Alpha Beta Chi. Members are also eligible for International and Local Kappa Beta Delta scholarships. For additional information, visit https://skylinecollege.edu/kappabetadelta.

Psychology Honor Society ‐ Psi Beta

Psi Beta is the Skyline College chapter of a national honor society for students attending two-year colleges that are majoring in, or have an interested in, the field of Psychology. The mission of the society is to encourage professional development and psychological literacy in students by promoting and recognizing excellence in scholarship, leadership, research, and community service.

Benefits of Psi Beta membership include the opportunity to present research, use your Psi Beta membership as a reference throughout your lifetime, qualify for Psi Beta student scholarships, enter a variety of annual national award competitions, learn leadership skills, gain research experience, and meet professionals in the discipline. Students who have completed at least one Psychology class and earned a B or better, are enrolled in 12 units at Skyline College, and have a GPA of 3.25 are eligible for life-time membership.
