An Associate in Arts degree in Dance from Skyline College provides students with the
foundation and skills needed to enter the dance profession or transfer to a dance
program at a four-year university. Students improve their level of physical dance
technique, performance and expression. Dance majors participate in dance performances
every semester which include opportunities for students to choreograph and perform
their work. Coursework includes practice and history in multiple dance styles, including
ballet, contemporary modern, jazz, hip hop and musical theater.
In order to succeed in the field of Dance, students should be committed to full physical
participation in regular technique classes, passionate about expressing themselves
and their ideas through movement and performance, in addition to learning about other
people and cultural traditions.
