Course Description

Application of basic acting theory to performance and development of dramatic interpretation skills through acting. Beginning level performance skills include emotional and sense memory techniques; memorization; interpretation of text; physical exercises designed to increase body awareness, authentic expression, and control; and vocal exercises focusing on articulation, projection, and creative expression. Students acquire confidence, range, and subtlety through improvisation, monologue, and scene work and gain insight and inspiration through text-based critical analysis.
