Course Description

Introduces those with no prior knowledge of Spanish to the Spanish language and the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Focuses on basic language structures and vocabulary to develop proficiency in speaking, reading, listening, and writing. Using a communicative approach, students converse about every day topics like: themselves, families, daily routines, professions, education, travel, and hobbies, etc. Cultural aspects and worldviews of the Spanish-speaking world are emphasized through a comparison of cultures. Spanish 110 reflects in its approach, content and implementation the National Standards for Foreign Language Learning and is equivalent to the first semester of Beginning Spanish at a four-year institution.
