Supervised work experience in cooperation with legal employers. Designed to apply knowledge and learn new skills, directly related to the paralegal or legal field, outside of the normal classroom environment. It is the students' responsibility to secure the work experience site and supervisor. Students may receive credit for work experience related to their major, field of study, or established career goals in Paralegal Studies. Students must attend an orientation, which is offered in the first three weeks of each semester, then work with an instructor to review and discuss learning objectives and work experience. One unit of credit will be earned for 48-54 hours of paid or unpaid work per semester. Students may repeat Work Experience courses within the SMCCCD for credit up to a maximum of 16 total units.
