Course Description

Introduction to theatre as both art form and social forum, emphasizing the relationship of theatre to various cultures throughout history and the contributions of significant individual artists. Explore elements of the production process including playwriting, acting, directing, design, technical theatre, theatre criticism, theatre management, and theatre architecture. Survey different periods, styles, and genres of theatre through play reading, discussion, films, and/or live theatre. Theatrical production attendance may be required.
