Program Overview

This program prepares students for licensing as a Barber. The Barbering program requires 1000 hours of comprehensive training in all facets of the Barbering Industry. Courses focus on theoretical fundamentals, practical manipulative skills, business knowledge, career development in the field, and the professional and ethical training needed for licensing through the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Prepared with excellent entry-level and some advanced skills, students are able to work in many facets of the Barbering industry. Skyline College's Barbering program is approved by: California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.

Admissions Procedures and Requirements:

The Barbering Certificate of Achievement requires the completion of a special application packet to be considered for admission. Admission applications are not considered for acceptance until all documents have been completed and received by the Office of Admission and Records. BARB 705 Business and Barbershop Experience 9 units
In addition students are able to earn extra hours/units by enrolling in the following courses: COSM 799, COSM 670, BUS. 150.
