An advanced exploration of information literacy that builds on foundational skills learned in LIBR 100 or LIBR 890 to deepen critical engagement with information in academic, media, and AI-driven environments. Students will develop original research questions, analyze algorithmic and platform bias, evaluate sources with greater nuance, and seek out diverse, underrepresented perspectives in their work. Emphasis is placed on conducting research across diverse modalities, critically evaluating information, and engaging with issues of ethics, privacy, and data rights, particularly in media and AI contexts, as well as understanding the social dynamics that shape access to knowledge.
