Course Description
A history of the African American community, beginning with an introduction to West
African societies and continuing through colonial times to the present. Emphasizes
the ancestral traditions, cultural capital, and intellectual contributions of African
Americans as they shaped and developed the history of the United States through resistance
and resilience.
