Course Description
Designed to help the student recognize and critically evaluate important ideas in
short and book length texts, and offers instruction in expository and argumentative
writing, appropriate and effective use of language, close reading, cogent thinking,
research strategies, information literacy, and documentation.

Prerequisites: Appropriate skill level as indicated by a 2.6 GPA or higher in high school, or completion
of ESL/ESOL 400, or other measures as applicable. Students eligible for English 100
who would prefer to receive extra support in reading and writing skills may enroll
in English 105.
