Career Opportunities

Automotive Electrical and Electronic Technicians are capable of diagnosing and repairing automotive and light truck electrical and electronic systems and related components throughout the vehicle. The students could also use this knowledge to become a service advisor, service manager, parts technician or parts manager.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students completing this program will be able to:

Successfully pass 3 out of 8 Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation (ASEEF) exams.
Apply theories, principles, and concepts to address skills learned that would apply to the ASEEF Certified areas of the Automotive Technology Program.
Exhibit strong and effective written and oral communication skills.
Exhibit strong electrical and mechanical analytical diagnostic skills.
Recognize the importance of and practice ethical behavior in a professional work setting, both within the workforce and within the community.
Successfully complete 100% of P-1 ASEEF specific tasks.
Successfully complete 95% of the P-2 ASEEF specific tasks.
Successfully complete 65% of the P-3 ASEEF specific tasks.

Program Overview

The College's Automotive Technology program is in the process of accreditation by the Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation (ASEEF). The program is conducted in a well-equipped facility with a large fleet of late model domestic and import vehicles. Automobile manufacturers provide substantial support for the program.

Students can pursue a certificate or degree in Automotive Technology or a specialty degree or certificate in Japanese Automotive Technology. Our partnerships with Subaru of America, Inc., Nissan of America, Infinity of America, Ford Motor Co. and Audi of America, Inc. provide employment opportunities for students enrolled in our programs. Our internship program matches students with employers who agree to mentor the student for a minimum of one semester. The College also provides numerous classes to update the knowledge and skills of practicing technicians.

Admission to the Automotive Electricity/Electronics

Certificate of Achievement is open only to students who have been admitted to the Automotive Technology Program. Once students have been admitted to the Automotive Technology Program, they will be given access to declare the certificate as a major.
