Course Description

A historical and cultural survey of East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Philippines from the origins to the 18th century. Emphasis will be on a critical evaluation of the main social, political, economic, cultural, intellectual and historical trends which have shaped the Asian countries.
